Streamsets claims to be used in various healthcare settings. I have healthcare related data movement operations that I would like to use streamsets for, but am curious about the data security. Say I were moving data between volumes in a local (mapr) hadoop cluster, would that data be secure at or near a HIPPA compliant level? Would anyone outside the internal network be able to see that data, does streamsets send any data back to streamsets the company or other outside parties, etc.?

Hi,

If your cluster is secured, it could encrypt any data movements between nodes and also have wire level security for data movements outside of the cluster.

You can enable https as well.

So streamsets does not phone home with any information about the contents or even statistics about the data that it is being used on?
